Pear Pickles

6 cups sugar
3 cups red vinegar
2 cups water 
2 sticks cinnamon
1 tbsp whole clove
1 tbsp all spice

Place spices in bag and drop into vinegar mixture. Boil 3 minutes. Drop in few pears (12 to 30) and boil until tender. Remove pears and pack into jars. Add additional pears to hot mixture and cook until tender. Pour liquid over pickles to cover,seal. You may drop a few cloves and spices in jars if desired.
